Most of the traditions and festivals still celebrated today are religious. For example, when a baby is born family members and friends will come and put a silver dollar and an evil eye pendent in the baby's crib. Its mostly known for good luck. Another example is when a women is pregnant without knowing her mother will wait for her to sit on a sofa and under the sofa cushion will be a pair of scissors. If they sit on the side with the scissors the parents believe it will be a boy. It is also to tradition to name the fist grandson and granddaughter after the husbands parents. These are some traditions I have learned from my family.
